Step 1: Complete the Questionnaire
Start the process by filling out theCustom Jewelry Questionnaire. This is the best way to discern whether or not my style is a fit for your dream piece. Once you have completed the questionnaire and I approve your project, I’ll respond via email to schedule your initial consultation.
Step 2: Collaboration + Deposit
We’ll schedule a consultation in person in Durango, by phone, or virtually. This conversation helps me understand you (or the recipient), including lifestyle, personal style, and how the piece will be worn, and gives you space to ask questions.
We’ll review your questionnaire and select a stone, which anchors both the design and meaning of the piece. Afterward, I’ll send a recap outlining the proposed direction, and you can decide whether to move forward.
All custom experiences are completed at a minimum of $500; therefore, a non-refundable $500 deposit and signed custom agreement are required to move forward after the initial consultation. The deposit covers design development and material planning, with up to three consultations and/or revisions included. Once fabrication begins, the design is final; any changes after this point will be quoted separately.
Step 3: Sourcing and Production
Once the deposit is received, I will begin sourcing materials for your piece, including metals, stones, and any additional components. Because materials are ordered and allocated specifically for your project, the deposit is non refundable at this stage.
Production then begins through hand fabrication in my Durango studio. This is where the approved design is brought to life using traditional metalsmithing techniques.
Production timelines typically range from six to eight weeks. Timing may vary slightly based on material availability and the complexity of the piece.
Step 4: Completion and Final Payment
Final pricing is based on design complexity, materials, stone selection, and current metal costs. Precious metal prices fluctuate, and final pricing reflects material costs at the time of fabrication. Any adjustments will be communicated clearly before final payment is due.
Once your custom jewelry piece is complete, final payment is due prior to delivery or shipping. Completion photos may be shared for documentation purposes.
A Final Note
Custom jewelry is a collaborative process built on trust. The design phase is where ideas are explored and refined together. Once fabrication begins, the approved design cannot be undone.
Each piece is handmade in Durango, Colorado and created with care, intention, and respect for the materials.
